Glenn DeRoche, Creative Director

Glenn DeRoche is a Brooklyn-born architect and designer of Caribbean descent, currently based between Accra and New York City. Early experiences moving between the U.S., the Caribbean, and now West Africa have shaped his understanding of the built environment, where climate, culture, and resources inform how and why we build. His work spans continents and contexts, engaging local materials and global conversations. In 2022, Glenn founded his studio with the mission of establishing a new kind of contemporary practice, one that bridges traditional material systems and contemporary building methods; grounded in context, artisanry, and collaboration.

Glenn is the recipient of the 2023 Holcim Gold Award for Sustainable Construction and was nominated for the AR Emerging Architecture Awards 2025 by the Architectural Review. In 2026, he was the Richard F. Hansen Lecturer in Architecture at Iowa State University, where he also served as a guest juror for the Richard F. Hansen Prize. Most recently, he inaugurated the Soil Sisters Spring Lecture Series at the Yale School of Architecture.

Glenn graduated Cum Laude from the Bernard Anne Spitzer School of Architecture at The City College of New York with his Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture and later went on to graduate with Distinction from the Bartlett School of Architecture in London for his Master’s.
